The Local News Initiative provides public education about local news and information and grants to support robust local news and information sources in Southern Arizona. The initial call for proposals, anticipated in early spring 2024, will seek applications from local news providers producing independent, nonpartisan reporting on issues of local concern and producing accessible, inclusive civic news and information. With more resources to produce news and information, the people in Tucson, Pima County, and across Southern Arizona can become better informed, and robust local journalism will hold local government and other institutions to account.
