The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is pleased to announce our sixth round of COVID-19 Response Grants.
We have also created a new Coping with COVID workshop series through our Center for Healthy Nonprofits to offer additional support to our nonprofit partners.
In partnership with our generous donors and supporters, CFSA has awarded $798,982 from our COVID-19 Response Funds over the last six weeks. This includes a $100,000 recoverable grant to help minority and women-owned small businesses and nonprofit organizations access PPP loans.
CFSA’s COVID-19 Response Grants provide general operating support to Pima County and Santa Cruz County nonprofits serving Arizona’s most vulnerable residents with a focus on providing basic human needs and access to healthcare.
In week six, $100,282 was awarded to seven organizations working to provide access to food, emergency rental assistance, mental health support, and more.

COVID-19 has long-ranging implications, not the least of which is housing insecurity. Meghan Heddings, Executive Director of Family Housing Resources shared, “[We are] so thrilled to have funding from CFSA to provide rental assistance to those in need. The effects of COVID-19 are vast and it is still hard to tell what the impact will be long term, particularly for low-income families. This rental assistance is a safety net that FHR is honored to provide to our community.”
Access to food continues to be another vulnerability for many in our community. “This support from the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona comes at a critical time,” said Michael McDonald, CEO of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. “It allows us to continue to respond to the high need we are seeing, the rising cost of food, and the extra cost involved in offering people drive-thru food distribution to fight the spread of COVID-19.”
As we continue to respond to the immediate needs of our local nonprofits through our COVID-19 Response Grants, CFSA is also looking ahead and developing a long-term strategy for rebuilding the sector with additional listening opportunities and focused investments that are most impactful for our diverse Southern Arizona community.
