LGBT&S Alliance Fund Announces Grant Recipients
Awards for $63,000 to Regional Organizations Supporting the LGBTQ Community
TUCSON, Ariz., (June 26, 2018) – The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Straight (LGBT&S) Alliance Fund, which supports innovative programs and initiatives that benefit the LGBT&S community in Southern Arizona, announced today grants for $63,000 to 16 regional nonprofit agencies. Since its inception, the LGBT&S Alliance Fund has awarded 182 grants to more than 64 different organizations totaling $809,597.
“The donors to the LBGT&S Alliance Fund continually show such a deep commitment to LGBTQ-serving nonprofits and grassroots organizations in Southern Arizona,” stated Dr. Sally Dodds, Chairperson of the LGBT&S Alliance Fund. “This year, their investments were the highest ever, 20% more than last year, and let us provide grants for much-needed programs and services.”
The LGBT&S Alliance Fund was created in 1999 by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Fund addresses a chronic pattern of underfunding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender programs and supports efforts to focus on these issues through philanthropy and endowment building.
“Once again, CFSA is proud to partner with the LGBTQ&S Alliance Fund to award grants to nonprofit organizations that provide needed services and support to the LGBTQ&S community,” said Sandra Nathan, Senior VP of Philanthropic Services and Community Investments at CFSA. “This year’s grantees truly reflect both emerging and longstanding needs of the LGBTQ&S community, addressing issues from emergency housing for youth to support for detained immigrants, transgender individuals and seniors. We are thrilled that our generous donors so consistently step up every year and demonstrate what a caring and diverse community we live in.”
