PAAW Biannual Meetings convene members of the animal welfare community to network and learn from one another. These meetings are open to anyone in the community who cares about animals and wants to learn about trends in animal welfare or how to get involved. One Health: Promoting Animal, Human and Ecosystem Health and Preventing the Global Spread of Zoonotic Diseases
This 30 minute presentation will describe how the One Health approach has improved animal, human and ecosystem health. It will also explain the root causes of the global spread of animal origin (zoonotic) diseases, such as COVID-19. The welfare of animals, people and the environments we share will depend on how well we can apply the One Health approach. A practical case example will be given as well as a TV commercial depicting some difficulties in applying One Health.
