South32 Hermosa Community Fund Awards $72,000 to Santa Cruz County Nonprofits

The South32 Hermosa Community Fund, a fund held by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, has granted $72,000 to nine nonprofits in Santa Cruz County. With a focus on meaningful community lift, grant amounts ranged from $1,000 to $10,000 and supported a broad array of needs and initiatives.

South32 Grantees:

The Mariposa Community Health Center applied to receive financial support to provide prosthetics to local breast cancer survivors who cannot afford reconstructive surgery. The grant committee – comprising independent reviewers, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA), and representatives from South32 — opted to award twice what was requested by the health center in order to provide prosthetics not only to individuals currently scheduled to receive prosthetics but also to those on the center’s waiting list.

The application period for the next round of grants will open on January 3, 2022.

The South32 Hermosa Community Fund was established by South32 in May of 2019 to support non-profit groups working to improve education, environment, health and welfare, recreation, civic enhancement, and arts, culture and history in the county. Grants are awarded following a review of applications by a committee.
