Week 4 Update: COVID-19 Response Funds

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is pleased to announce our fourth round of COVID-19 Response Grants.

In partnership with our generous donors and supporters, CFSA has awarded $588,700‬ from our COVID-19 Response Funds over the last four weeks to support nonprofit organizations in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties.

COVID-19 Response Grants provide general operating support to nonprofit organizations serving Arizona’s most vulnerable residents with a focus on providing basic human needs and access to healthcare.

In week four, $100,000 was awarded to six organizations working to keep southern Arizonans safe and healthy in this time of crisis by continuing to offer critical healthcare services, ensuring access to healthy food, supporting domestic violence victims, and more.

The Sahuarita Food Bank is experiencing a dramatic increase in demand for services due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the need to transition to a “drive-through model of food distribution and the need for increased food storage and material handling,” said Curt Keim, Vice President. “CFSA’s immediate financial support has already allowed us to purchase a remote intercom to create social distancing, order high-protein commodities, and add additional staffing to provide interpretation for our Spanish-speaking clients,” he continued.

As we continue to respond to the immediate needs of our local nonprofits through our COVID-19 Response Grants, CFSA is also looking ahead and developing a long-term strategy for rebuilding the sector with additional listening opportunities and focused investments that are most impactful for our diverse Southern Arizona community.

Many thanks to the generous donors, fundholders, local foundations and corporations, and community partners who contributed to these funds!
