Legal Duties of Nonprofit Board Members

Are you navigating the legal responsibilities of board members of nonprofit organizations – either as a current board member or a nonprofit employee?

We will discuss the three primary legal duties of board members and how to fulfill those duties through practical examples; conflicts of interest – how to spot them and how to deal with them; and the differences between serving on the board of a nonprofit organization and serving on the board of a for-profit organization, and other related topics.

Board members and nonprofit employees at all levels are welcome to come with questions.

About Our Speaker

Nancy March, a Tucson attorney, retired from her practice as a business bankruptcy and estate planning lawyer several years ago to devote more time to helping nonprofits with legal questions and governance issues, on a volunteer or low-fee basis. Over the years, Nancy has served as Board President for several nonprofit organizations, including the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation and True Concord Voices and Orchestra.
