Are you interested in meaningful ways to help shape the future of philanthropy in Southern Arizona? Just as our desert resilience depends on each unique plant and creature, our work at CFSA is strongest when volunteers from all walks of life contribute their time, expertise, or perspective.

CFSA is committed to engaging volunteers across our region. We encourage volunteers who are 18 years or older from all backgrounds to submit their interest, especially those from historically underrepresented communities, including:

Black and African Americans,
Hispanic Americans
Indigenous Tribal Members
LGBTQIA+ community members
Young adults (18 or older)
People living with disabilities

We welcome interest from people in the private sector and/or from corporate backgrounds who wish to get more involved in their community.

Volunteer as a

Community Grant Reviewer

Our community grant reviewers help guide CFSA investment decisions in Southern Arizona.  Our community review process helps ensure funding reaches those who need it most.

What is a Community Grant Reviewer?

Community grant reviewers are one-time or recurring volunteers who donate 13-15 hours, including training, to read and score 10-15 grant applications for an open grant round. Community grant reviewers use their lived experience and perspectives to evaluate applications based on the questions asked and provide feedback to the grantee to help strengthen future proposals.

Minimum requirements include: access to a computer; the ability to join meetings virtually and/or in person; the ability to work in Southern Arizona; and being 18 years of age or older.

CORE and Comunidad Grant Program - The call for volunteer reviewers will begin in September 2026.
African American Legacy Fund Grant Program - The call for volunteer reviewers will begin in January 2027.

Volunteer as a

Community Scholarship Reviewer

Our community scholarship reviewers help guide educational support decisions for students in Southern Arizona. Our community review process helps ensure funding reaches those who need it most. Scholarship volunteer opportunities occur once per year and generally span March and April.

What is a Community Scholarship Reviewer?

Community scholarship reviewers are one-time volunteers who donate 8-10 hours, including training, reading, and scoring 10-15 scholarship applications. Reviewers draw on their lived experience and perspectives to evaluate students' applications, using the questions posed to inform scholarship selection decisions. No prior experience in the education field is required, and we encourage volunteers from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum requirements include: access to a computer; the ability to join meetings virtually and/or in person; the ability to work in Southern Arizona; and being 18 years or older.

Volunteer for a

CFSA Initiative or Affiliate

CFSA is home to several initiatives that serve unique and valued sectors of our community. Volunteering for an initiative or affiliate is a high-level volunteer opportunity that helps shape grantmaking priorities, supports the growth of available grantmaking funds, and offers the chance to become a community ambassador.

Initiative service requires a minimum two-year commitment and at least 5-10 hours per month.
