Standing with the LGBTQ+ Community in Southern Arizona, Reaffirming Our Commitment to Dignity, Equality, and Belonging
TUCSON, AZ (September 1, 2026)- The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA), together with our LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund, is heartbroken by the hateful act of violence targeting Tucson’s LGBTQ+ community. We mourn with the families and loved ones of those whose lives were taken, and with all those experiencing grief, fear, and heartbreak in its wake.
Violence rooted in hatred and bias is an attack on the dignity, equality, and belonging every person deserves. CFSA and the LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund stand unequivocally with our LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to a Southern Arizona where LGBTQ+ people can live openly, gather safely, and be fully and proudly themselves.
For those wishing to gather in community, a candlelight vigil honoring Vinny and Cameron will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Philip Walsted Memorial at Catalina Park and Splash Pad, 941 N. Fourth Ave. See link below for more details.
