As we wrap up another year of impactful giving, we reflect on the collective efforts that have made a lasting difference in our community.
CFSA has continued to serve as a vital link between donors and the causes they care about, empowering individuals, families, and businesses to create positive change across our region. Through the diverse funds entrusted to us, we have been able to touch many aspects of life in Southern Arizona, supporting initiatives that enrich our community and uplift those in need.
We are proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and we are excited to share five highlights from this year’s journey of giving.
1. Investing In Our Community
CFSA had the honor of celebrating the nonprofits that received grants through CFSA initiatives and affiliate funds, supporting a wide range of impactful work across Southern Arizona. Grants were awarded through the African American Legacy Fund, Comunidad Grants, CORE Grants, Endowment for the Arts, Hellene Henrikson Fund, LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund, Local News Initiative of Southern Arizona, Nonprofit Solar Project, Santa Cruz Community Foundation, Shaaron Kent End-of-Life Care, The Policy Project Planning, South32 Hermosa Community Fund, and Stone Canyon Community Foundation.
2. Inaugural BLOOM Awards
We were thrilled to introduce the inaugural BLOOM Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits in Southern Arizona. These awards highlighted those who have worked tirelessly to create a thriving, inclusive community in Southern Arizona. This year’s recipients included:
Vital Nonprofit Bloom Award: Community Investment Corporation
Impactful Philanthropy Bloom Award: John Amoroso
Bold Aspirations Bloom Award: Wendy McBroom
3. Memorable Events
CFSA was proud to host a series of memorable events that brought our community together and showcased the incredible work being done across Southern Arizona. From the Center Celebration to Nonprofit Solar Project ribbon cuttings to Art at Campus and Queer for Good, we celebrated diversity, collaboration, and progress. Other highlights included the CFSA Community Celebration, Community Impact Night, and the Roberta Backer Civic Leadership Dinner, which honored local leaders. We also enjoyed the powerful discussions at the Black Ayo and Solutions-Focused Community Book Club. Each of these events was a testament to the strength and resilience of our community.
4. Capacity-Building Training
This year, the Center for Healthy Nonprofits successfully held 88 workshops, both in-person and virtually, across Tucson, Yuma, Green Valley, and Nogales. These workshops were designed to support nonprofit professionals, board members, and volunteers by providing affordable, capacity-building training. Through this commitment to professional and organizational development, the Center fostered a collaborative, learning-focused environment, strengthening the Southern Arizona nonprofit community.
5. CFSA’s Growing Team
2024 was a year for growth at CFSA! We added several new positions and were able to promote from within. Congratulations to all of our team members who have taken on new or expanding leadership roles.
