LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund Announces 2018 Grant Recipients

The LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund which supports innovative programs and initiatives that benefit the LGBTQ community in Southern Arizona, announced today grants for $63,000 to 16 regional nonprofit agencies. Since its inception, the Alliance Fund has awarded 182 grants to more than 64 different organizations totaling $809,597.

“The donors to the LBGT&S Alliance Fund continually show such a deep commitment to LGBTQ-serving nonprofits and grassroots organizations in Southern Arizona,” stated Dr. Sally Dodds, Chairperson of the LGBT&S Alliance Fund. “This year, their investments were the highest ever, 20% more than last year, and let us provide grants for much-needed programs and services.”

The LGBT&S Alliance Fund was created in 1999 by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership.  The Fund addresses a chronic pattern of underfunding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender programs and supports efforts to focus on these issues through philanthropy and endowment building.

This year’s grantees reflect both emerging and longstanding needs of the LGBTQ community, addressing issues from emergency housing for youth to support for detained immigrants, transgender individuals and seniors.

Grants in this round of funding range from $1,600 to $5,000, for organizations serving needs from LGBTQ community building and collaborations, transgender issues, youth and elder issues and general operating support. This year’s grants were awarded to the following organizations:
