The LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund, which supports innovative programs and initiatives that benefit the LGBTQ+ community in Southern Arizona, announced it will grant $52,835 to 13 regional nonprofit agencies. Since its inception, the LGBT&S Alliance Fund has awarded 166 grants to more than 60 different organizations totaling $746,597.
“The LGBT&S Alliance Fund donors are proud to support these 13 change agents making profound improvements to the quality of life for members of the LGBTQ community,” stated Tim Olcott, Chairperson of the LGBT&S Alliance Fund. “We especially want to thank our dedicated community volunteers who serve our grant panel each year and are committed to changing the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Southern Arizona.”
The LGBT&S Alliance Fund was created in 1999 by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Fund addresses a chronic pattern of underfunding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender programs and supports efforts to focus on these issues through philanthropy and endowment building.
“We are excited to continue partnering with our many donors to invest in programs that truly make a difference in Southern Arizona,” said Sandra Nathan, VP of Community Investment at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona. “These organizations provide valuable service to the LGBTQ community, and these grants will help them expand and further their critical missions.”
Grants in this round of funding range from $1,600 to $5,000, for organizations serving needs from LGBTQ community building and collaborations, transgender issues, youth and elder issues and general operating support. This year’s grants were awarded to the following organizations:
