For too long, Ward Five has carried the weight of disinvestment—its families, businesses, and neighborhoods too often overlooked in both public and private funding decisions. From aging infrastructure to under-resourced programs, the impacts of that neglect are visible and deeply felt.
Under Mayor Regina Romero’s leadership, we are finally seeing long-overdue improvements to our roads, parks, and public spaces. Building on that momentum, Council Member Rocque Perez is taking further action—investing directly in the needs and aspirations of Ward Five’s families, neighborhoods, and local businesses.
The Ward Five Community Program & Small Business Grants will deliver an overall $340,000 in targeted funding that supports nonprofits, small businesses, and resident-led infrastructure improvements. The Ward Five Community Program Grant, administered through the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, will award a total of $75,000 to nonprofits, fiscally-sponsored organizations, and educational institutions delivering programs and events that provide relief and opportunity for youth, seniors, and families across the City of Tucson’s Ward Five.
Grants of up to $6,000 will be awarded to grassroots organizations working at the local level with their communities to address emerging issues across priority areas, including youth development, food security, health, education, arts and culture, housing access, and civic participation.
Applications for Ward 5 Community Program grants will open on August 13, 2025.
