About the Roberta Bracker Memorial Civic Leadership Award

Roberta Bracker was an inspirational civic leader and a strong believer in giving back to her community. Roberta was actively engaged in the creation and evolution of the Santa Cruz Community Foundation to strengthen the Santa Cruz community.

In recognition of Roberta’s significant contributions to the community of Nogales and Santa Cruz County, the Santa Cruz Community Foundation renamed its annual leadership award in her honor. The Roberta Bracker Memorial Civic Leadership Award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional civic leadership and commitment to making Santa Cruz County a better place to live.

2025 Dr. Eladio Pereira

Dr. Eladio Pereira completed medical school and residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He joined Mariposa in 1986, when it was a small community health center that had just begun providing medical care to adults. His work has emphasized teaching, mentoring, and supporting new programs to keep health care local. The COVID-19 pandemic was one of the most significant challenges in the organization’s history. Working with a dedicated team, he helped reduce the morbidity and mortality of the illness. He is especially grateful to his wife, Yolanda, who has supported him for many years.
