The COVID-19 crisis has forced many organizations to make changes never anticipated before, and our initial responses were based on meeting the immediate needs of the people we serve and the survival of our organizations. Now we must look to the future – but which future?
Anticipating alternative scenarios that could happen before they happen, leaders can plan for the decisions they need to make. While uncertainty may tempt some leaders to consider putting off important decisions, the status quo is not an option. It is imperative to be creative in assessing the risks and opportunities facing your organization and let that guide your decision-making.
The key to surviving this crisis and thriving in the future is to be able to imagine an inspiring vision for what comes next and to try out alternative scenarios that will make it possible.
Nonprofit consultant and seasoned board leader, Evan Mendelson, will detail the building blocks for putting together a scenario planning process for your organization. She will provide resources, checklists, and tools for planning in uncertain times. The session, conducted on Zoom, will provide opportunities for interaction both with the presenter and fellow nonprofit leaders who participate.
