The African American Legacy Fund, a fund of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, is proud to sponsor the 2nd Annual African American Leadership Institute (AALI) in Southern Arizona, one of two institutes hosted by The State of Black Arizona.

The African American Leadership Institute is committed to the individual development of African American leaders for the purpose of increasing African American participation in key civic, political, and workforce-related leadership roles. AALI serves as the principal educational and networking resource, harnessing expertise and advocacy on African American leadership issues affecting and impacting our communities.

AALI is a 10-week masterclass program comprised of weekly classes, as well as an all-day leadership retreat. The curriculum builds from participants’ experiences, emphasizing personal and professional development with a practical identity, current and relevant local and state issues, media relations, and strategic direction, among other topics.

“This was a phenomenal institute. The Afro-centric focus on leadership is unprecedented. This is the seed that will grow into beautiful things for our community.” -Institute Participant

Masterclasses are held weekly from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, beginning October 6, 2022, and ending December 9, 2022. After the 10-week classes, the program concludes with a graduation ceremony open to the public. Tuition is $1,000 and includes all required materials, supplies, meals, and snacks.
