For a nonprofit, “Cash is (often) King”: A donor receives a charitable deduction for an outright cash gift. The nonprofit can immediately put it to work to fund a building, a program, or a project. However, a donor’s long-term objectives to support a nonprofit might be better accomplished by structuring a deferred gift, such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust. This informative session will examine the importance of a gift acceptance policy, the variety of gifts that can fund planned vehicles, the utilization of beneficiary designations, and QCDs to fulfill a donor’s charitable intent.

Highlights of what participants will learn:

  • Implement best practices regarding gift acceptance policies
  • Know and successfully articulate how a donor can support a nonprofit today
  • Appreciate the importance of promoting beneficiary designations for a legacy society
  • Understand the basic mechanics of a charitable gift annuity and a charitable remainder trust
