Calling Allies into Action

Join us on February 28th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM for “Calling Allies into Action,” a teach-in sponsored by the Alliance Fund. This event will delve into the impacts of recent Executive Orders and explore actionable steps allies can take to support our communities.  

This event is a valuable opportunity to learn from leaders dedicated to social justice and discover ways to actively support and uplift our communities. 

This event will take place in midtown Tucson. The specific location of this event will be shared three days prior.

Moderator

Lizette Trujillo (she/her/ella) is a Tucson small business owner and community advocate for transgender youth and families. As a volunteer for Families Transformed/Fluxx, Lizette is committed to bringing awareness to the rights and needs of transgender youth’s families locally and nationally. Her local efforts have brought her national attention. Lizette is a proud mother to a transgender son and enjoys being a mother above all else.

Panelists

TC Tolbert: Serving as the director of BOSS (Building Our Safe Spaces), TC Tolbert is a prominent figure in the arts and advocates for promoting safe environments for marginalized communities. 

Darrell Hill: Darrell Hill is the Policy Director for the ACLU of Arizona. Darrell’s work includes legislative advocacy in police practices, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, criminal justice reform, and education equity. As Policy Director, Darrell Hill has worked to successfully pass legislation prohibiting the suspension and expulsion of young students for minor disciplinary infractions and legislation to address healthcare inequity during the pandemic and for women in prison. Before Darrell became Policy Director, he was an ACLU of Arizona staff attorney, where he successfully litigated cases concerning Voting Rights, Arizona’s Free Exercise of Religion Act, public records law, and the First Amendment. Darrell graduated from Wisconsin Law School with a B.A. in English and Sociology from Northwestern University. 

Jennicet Gutiérrez: Jennicet Gutiérrez (she/hers/ella) is a transgender immigrant Latina from Tuxpan, Jalisco. She is the co-Director of Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement – a national trans and queer Latinx and immigrant grassroots organization organizing at the intersections of trans and queer rights and migrant and racial justice.

t lovingt loving is a member of Kindred Connections, a QTBIPOC-led and serving collective using ancestral wisdom to promote kinship and holistic wellness. As a consultant, they provide professional, policy, and program development for community-serving entities. Their work is harm reduction, people-first centered, and prioritizes individuals and communities who are strategically devalued and under-resourced.
