Community Foundation for Southern Arizona’s Response to COVID-19

Dear Donors and Community Partners,

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has been closely monitoring and rapidly responding to the impact of the COVID-19 virus in our community. We will continue to update our response in alignment with recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).

We believe our primary role and responsibility is to support the southern Arizona community and protect its members during this time of uncertainty. Towards that goal, CFSA has taken three primary steps:

  • Established the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund to support nonprofits that have had to cancel critical fundraising events;
  • Established the COVID-19 Community Support Fund to provide general operating support to nonprofits in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties who are directly supporting those most affected by the COVID-19 crisis with access to basic necessities like food for families and seniors, childcare for essential workers, legal services and rent assistance for low-income community members, diapers and incontinence supplies, and protective equipment for first responders.
  • Limited large gatherings at the Community Foundation Campus and revised our Campus Meeting & Event Policy; and
  • Changed the cleaning regimen of our physical space to limit the potential spread of the virus.

To protect your health and that of our staff, we are postponing all events with an anticipated attendance of over 25 people hosted by CFSA or within our community meeting space for the next two weeks. We are also requesting remote meetings, over the phone or via video chat, when possible to minimize non-essential personal contact. For the time being, our office remains open and in-person meetings may continue.

We want to assure you that CFSA is fully prepared to continue to serve, support, and advise our donors and provide grant support to our communities, even if it becomes necessary to limit personnel presence within our physical office space. The majority of CFSA staff are prepared to work from home if needed, to keep operations running smoothly.

We are assessing this situation as it develops and will provide timely notification of any future adjustments to planned meetings or events. We will also provide updated information regarding other ways you might be able to support our community.
