Missy BowdenTUCSON, Ariz. (May 1, 2013)

Two years ago, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA), got very lucky when Mari Diffley agreed to join the Foundation team. She started with the foundation as a consultant, and due to her abilities and passion for what we do, agreed to join the foundation for a period of two years and serve as COO.  Under her skilled and experienced leadership we transformed our operations, IT and financial systems and website to enhance service to our donors and the community. Clint Mabie, President and CEO of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona noted, “We and the community are indebted to Mari for her tireless work ethic, service and commitment to our donors and now with Mari’s commitment ending, we are taking the next step in our strategic plan.”

CFSA is pleased to announce Katherine “Missy” Bowden will be joining the foundation as our new Chief Financial Officer on July, 1, 2013. Missy brings 25 years of experience in bank accounting and financial reporting to the position. For the past 17 years Missy has been the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank of Tucson. She was the third employee of the bank and built its financial, asset liability management and investment operations departments. Currently she oversees a staff of three and manages the bank’s annual audit, investment portfolio of over $100 M, and compliance with regulatory bodies.

Mike Hannley, the President and CEO of the Bank of Tucson remarked, “In the unannounced partnership of Bank of Tucson and Grandpoint Bank, Bank of Tucson’s CFO, Missy Bowden opted to stay in Tucson rather than move to LA as part of the merger.  Missy has been the bank’s CFO since the bank began in 1996. During her tenure not only with Bank of Tucson, but with its holding company, Capital Bancorp LTD, she oversaw the financial performance of eight southwest banks in the CBC network.  She will bring to the Foundation an incredible depth of knowledge and experience not only in investment portfolio management, but in asset liability management and accounting procedures. Most importantly, Missy is a great person and asset to the community”.

Missy is also a dedicated community volunteer. She has been a board member of La Paloma Family Services for 11 years, serving in a variety of capacities including Secretary, Vice Chair and Finance Committee member. She has also served on the boards of the Arizona Center for the Study of Children and Families and Kids-Aid.
