AZPM and CFSA present Community Interactive: The Arts
A live event featuring national and local arts community experts
TUCSON, AZ – January 23, 2018 – Arizona Public Media and the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona will present the fourth in a series of community conversations, Community Interactive: The Arts – a live, interactive event featuring in-depth discussions with national and local leaders in the arts on January 29 at the Temple of Music and Art. The event will be moderated by Jeffrey Brown, Chief Correspondent for Arts, Culture, and Society for PBS NewsHour.
Guests include Deborah Jordy, Americans for the Arts Board Member and Executive Director of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District in Denver Colorado; Cindy Ornstein, Director of Arts and Culture, City of Mesa; Fletcher McCusker, CEO UAVenture Partners; David Ivers, Artistic Director, Arizona Theater Company and past Artistic Director of the The Utah Shakespeare Festival; Marc David Pinate, Producing Artistic Director, Borderlands Theater; Jeremy Mikolajczak, Chief Executive Officer of the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block; Ginger Shulick Porcella, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson; Randi Dorman, Chairwoman of the Downtown Tucson Partnership and Immediate past president of the Tucson Museum of Contemporary Art. The importance of the arts in Tucson is evident across many facets and industries, many groups and individuals have a vested interest in ensuring that the city always has a vital and thriving arts community. This public conversation will focus on the nature, growth and future of arts and culture in Southern Arizona with insight into the following topics:
- Why the Arts matter to business, in education, and to making Tucson what it is.
- Economic impact of the arts in the community.
- Fresh ideas from people who have improved the arts in their own communities.
- How we can become an even more engaged, vital, and thriving arts community.
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. General admission tickets will be available through Eventbrite (ciarts2018.eventbrite.com). Community Interactive is a series of engaging and informative live events addressing issues Southern Arizonans face, such as Poverty, the Border, Education, and the Arts. Produced in partnership by Arizona Public Media and the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, each event offers an opportunity to participate in a solution-driven conversation on the challenges and potential solutions to these pressing issues.
