The Capin family was involved in all aspects of philanthropy, from the donation of basic necessities such as bedding and clothing, to supporting a local hospital expansion. As prominent figures of the Nogales Arizona and Sonora region the Capin family established four-year renewable scholarships for underprivileged Nogales High School graduates to assist them with college. Harlan Capin established the Capin Endowed Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in 2002. For Harlan, he gets a real pleasure when he hears from a scholarship student.
Harlan Capin is an active fundraiser who engages his family in giving and involvement. He makes sure the “funds are thriving” and the Capin legacy of philanthropy continues with Harlan Capin’s son, Mark Ross Capin. Before his death, Mark established a fund for the Mariposa Community Health Center in the Nogales area.
