TUCSON, Ariz. – Looking to adopt a new family member? Tucson’s second annual Adopt Love Adopt Local has you covered!
Last year, more than 2,300 open-hearted people attended our first annual event, ensuring 130 animals found their forever homes. Grateful pets included dogs, cats, a gerbil, an even a ferret.
On Saturday, April 16, we’ll have a chance to top that great result! Hundreds of pets of all shapes, colors, sizes, breeds, ages and backgrounds will be looking for their match at a one-day, family-friendly event that will feature 25 local animal rescue organizations in one convenient location.
Happily-ever-after for pets and people will unfold at the West Hall of the Tucson Expo Center at Irvington and Alvernon, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will include pet-focused entertainment and demonstrations. Admission and parking are free!
Tucson’s second annual mega-adoption event is being presented by the Pima Alliance for Animal Welfare (PAAW), an all-volunteer organization that has been working since 2012 to ensure that all Pima County companion animals have loving homes and humane care. PAAW is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.
“By holding this event we hope to find homes for at least 200 animals while sharing a very powerful message about the steps we can take as individuals and a community to confront this heartbreaking problem of abandoned animals,” said Barbara Brown, the foundation’s vice president of program services and community initiatives.
