Adopt Love Adopt Local has you covered!
On Saturday, April 11, hundreds of pets of all shapes, colors, sizes, breeds, ages and backgrounds will be looking for their match at a one-day, family-friendly event that will feature dozens of local animal rescue organizations in one convenient location. Best of all: admission is free.
Happily-ever-after for pets and people will unfold at the West Hall of the Tucson Expo Center at Irvington and Alvernon, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will include pet-focused entertainment and demonstrations.
Tucson’s first mega-adoption event is being presented by the Pima Alliance for Animal Welfare (PAAW), an all-volunteer organization that has been working since 2012 to ensure that all Pima County companion animals have loving homes and humane care. PAAW is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.
“It is hard to imagine that over 30,000 companion animals are abandoned each year and end up in our local shelters and with rescues groups,” said Barbara Brown, Vice President of Program Services and Community Initiatives. “By holding this event we hope to find homes for at least 200 animals while sharing a very powerful message about the steps we can take as individuals and a community to confront this heartbreaking problem.”
