The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is awarding 115 scholarships, totaling $345,339, to qualifying high school and college students in Tucson, Sahuarita and Nogales for the 2014-2015 academic year. Scholarships range from $600 to $13,200, and may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and/or equipment.
“Many of this year’s scholarship recipients are first-generation college-bound students who show great promise and need some assistance to achieve their dreams,” said Marthena Maley, Program Officer at CFSA. “Some scholarships were established to benefit students attending specific schools or those working toward a degree in certain areas of study while others allow flexibility based on the students goals.”
Money for scholarships at CFSA come from donor-designated funds, corporate funds and the Community Foundation’s General Scholarship Program.
“We applaud the scholarship recipients and thank the generous donors that paid it forward by providing their support,” said Clint Mabie, President and CEO of CFSA.
Recipients of CFSA’s general scholarships were chosen based on various terms of eligibility, which typically include financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 academic year will become available in January 2015.
